Open about how we work

We are committed to full transparency about our money and our work. Every intervention is based on research and on what we learned from the last one, so resources go where communities need them most.

Under 10%

We aim to keep running costs under 10% of our annual budget, so more of every gift reaches communities.

Audited every year

Our annual accounts are checked by an external auditor, and we carry out independent internal audits too.

FIA registered

We are registered with Uganda’s Financial Intelligence Authority, which works against money laundering and terrorism financing.

We follow the Core Humanitarian Standard, and we have written policies covering every part of how we operate.

How we are governed

  • A constitution that guides our governance and field work
  • A board manual setting out the board's role
  • A clear organisation structure, shared with stakeholders
  • An up-to-date strategic plan and fundraising strategy

How we treat people

  • A human resource manual and clear job descriptions
  • Volunteer and gender policies
  • A safeguarding policy to protect children
  • A safety and security policy

How we manage money and risk

  • A financial policy, with budgets approved before each year begins
  • A procurement policy, using only licensed, approved suppliers
  • A risk management policy
  • An asset register, and funds used only for their intended purpose

How we run programmes

  • Project design and project management standards
  • Communities consulted throughout project design
  • Regular evaluation and learning
  • A complaints policy and an information disclosure policy
