Ndugwa Hassan serves as the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Prospect Initiative, bringing over 14 years of expertise in peace and security as a seasoned trainer, activist, researcher, and leader. Hassan holds a Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Local Governance and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, specializing in Political Science and Public Administration. Hassan's dedication to global engagement and research is evidenced by his significant fellowship appointments, including being a 2015 Mandela Washington Fellow, an Extremely Together Leader with the Kofi Annan Foundation, a Generation Change Fellow with the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP), and a Participatory Action Research Fellow. These engagements underscore his long-standing commitment to empowering youth, advancing peacebuilding, and preventing violent extremism across Africa.

His research contributions are vast and impactful, including co-authoring numerous working papers on youth participation in peacebuilding and the prevention of violent extremism. He contributed to global publications and tools supporting and protecting victims of terrorism. Key studies he has contributed to include the 2019 BRICS study on violent extremism in Eastern Uganda, Women Without Borders’ 2019 study, Can Fathers Challenge Extremism?, focusing on the role of East African fathers in preventing violence, the 2021 study on violent extremism dynamics in Uganda’s Greater Masaka Region, and the Resilience Rising research exploring climate challenges and conflict. Furthermore, Hassan has played a key role in shaping national policy frameworks, notably contributing to the design and implementation of Uganda’s National Strategy for the Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism (P/CVE).
