Peace

Preventing violent conflict and extremism, and helping survivors recover.

The concern

Why this matters

Today threats to peace are at their highest, and conflicts have become more complex, intense and destructive. The worst effects of these conflicts have been borne by the most vulnerable of our world- children, women, youth, elderly, persons with disability and persons with chronic illnesses.

Our response

Our solutions

Our solutions have been multi-faceted, ranging from prevention, de-escalation, and recovery solutions geared toward containing the impact of violent conflicts, including violent extremism. These wide-ranging interventions have included initiatives in research & analysis; advancing the effective participation and leadership of women & youth in peacebuilding and P/CVE; empowering communities as key contributors to Peace & Security; bridging the gap between the state and the people; strengthening whole of government responses to preventing/countering violent extremism; capacitating homegrown CSOs to contribute to peace; and strategic communication.

Additional interventions have aimed at strengthening human connectedness and friendships; expanding access to socio-economic opportunity for all; enhancing a positive media role in peacebuilding; and addressing consequences of violent conflict by enabling positive coping mechanisms for victims of terrorism and former combatants.
